THE BIG TALK

Climate activism: from controversy to dialogue

Having a space like tonight at The Big Talk is really important for us
to come together, challenge each other and work out what this future is we’re fighting for
.”
- Mikaela Loach

Together, we put climate back on the calendar at The Big Talk. It was an inspiring evening full of engaging voices on the role of climate activism. How do we rekindle the flame of our climate awareness? And how do we turn activism into climate action?

Bruges 2030 brought the British author and climate justice activist, Mikaela Loach, to Bruges for a keynote. On the panel sat young climate activist Benjamin Van Bunderen Robberechts and co-founder of Too good to Go Jonas Mallisse. But also Rebekah Eschauzier of Extinction Rebellion and climate expert Pieter Boussemaere.

Science journalist and VRT meteorologist Jacotte Brokken moderated The Big Talk and Belgian musician Meskerem Mees livened up the evening with a performance.

All proceeds of the evening went to Climate Justice For Rosa, a non-profit organisation founded by panelist Benjamin Van Bunderen Robberechts to support climate victims.

BruggeNaarMorgen organised an open networking moment before and after The Big Talk and offered inspiration for concrete climate actions in Bruges. You could put forward your own suggestions for more local climate actions.

The Big Talk is a collaboration between by Musea Brugge, Concertgebouw Brugge, Brugge 2030, De Republiek, BruggeNaarMorgen andClimate Conscious in the framework of the exhibition Rebel Garden (part of the partner programme of Triennale Brugge).
